Beachcombing, Fishing, Snorkeling
Light Tan, and very soft
Some trash in the parking area, but the beach is very clean
Clear, clean Atlantic Ocean water
From the ferry dock in town (Isabel II), go north past El Yate toward the Bravos Beach Hotel; the lighthouse is on the left. Before you hit the dead end, take a right and a quick left and continue along until you see BBH on the left – keep going.
Keep the Atlantic Ocean on your left as you travel slowly on these rough roads with pot-holes and speed bumps. Each time you come to a fork, keep left along the shore.
There is a place called El Maroc, with Moroccan architecture. After this, look closely on the left because the entrance is difficult to spot. At the driveway to Casa Del Amor and Casa Uva, turn left and go left again immediately (it’s almost a U-turn) down the short stretch to the sandy parking area.
La Chata is a northside beach with views of mainland PR to the left and Culebra to the right.
It is a quiet beach in a nice neighborhood, that is great for relaxing, beachcombing, and snorkeling the reef when the water is calm. You can see surfers here when the waves are right, but it’s not recommended for novices. To surf here, you should be both highly skilled and know the reef, to keep from “getting to know the reef” in a bad way.
There is good shade here from all of the trees overhanging the sand.
